Proposal for Special Issue on
Data Science for the Internet of Things
Data Science is gaining tremendous popularity in business world. It has an enormous effect on improving business productivity and performance. Data science is an interdisciplinary research area involving approaches and methods to gather, store, analyze, manage and publish data. In the Internet of things (IoT), different sensors are connected to measure environmental parameters and generate user interaction data. Due to the increase popularity of IoT, there are big flow of data predicted in coming days. The flourishing in data requires smarter data science approaches in addition to a better infrastructure layout. Data science approaches have been used to enhance the IoT applicability in terms of throughput rates, and self-optimization and -management. As a matter of fact, incorporating data science lifecycle will affect significantly the future of the IoT. This will allow researchers to reformulate scenarios, optimize the data gathering approaches, and visualize the data obtained by the IoT. Data science for IoT can help overcome some global challenges, generating more accurate decisions. Data science will also allow incorporating artificial intelligence, which makes data processing easier. The opportunities and applications that can exploit IoT data science are growing more and more. With the recent trends, IoT is one of the best forerunners in data generation. One of the next key challenges will be integrating the IoT and Data Science
